Memories of War

  • This is a poem, about:
  • Dying for home.
  • Peace to the fallen -
  • Who's fam'ly came callin',
  • Body resting with: loam,
  • And Victory cotton,
  • Stiff Uniform starch,
  • With thirsty unparch.
  • Best not forgotten:
  • Soul opened to roam.
  • Valiant and vexing,
  • Powerful lessons,
  • In some lifetime tome.
  • The War to end all Wars,
  • But not quite through,
  • came World War Two,
  • Who's ending due:
  • Normandy chores, and
  • Fissible cores.
  • Let's not defame,
  • 'Twas Change in the game:
  • Avoid big red buttons:
  • Not oil gluttons;
  • Chase Commy VC's
  • And WMD's.
  • Change since Cain-
  • Or very first rain?
  • Millions in pain -
  • Soon is it coming,
  • war drums a drummin'?
  • Will we see,
  • W W 3?
  • Praying for peace,
  • well meaning troglodytes,
  • Invite others to fights, to
  • Defending our rights, with
  • Camouflage kites.
  • Thanks to those gone,
  • Peace in our age,
  • Present this page,
  • Harmless as fawn,
  • In this new dawn,
  • Trading is sage.
